stunted flick'ring firelight

wanly thrown to cave wall -

forgotten.

sputtering smoke

of tallow candle -

forgotten.

sour stink of rancid whale oil -

forgotten.

angry kerosene can

grimed with heavy use -

forgotten.

but now the dim glow

of my cell phone,

just the dim glow

of a cell phone 

to light me down.
